My PhD student Roel defended his excellent thesis in the ‘hybrid format’ Erasmus University developed in response to the pandemic. It meant an empty room, with many others present online. Roel gave Prof Martine Bouman and me reason to be very proud as his thesis was awarded with Cum Laude. Roel conducted in-depth network analyses to better understand the media landscape in relation to social change. He now runs New Momentum, a start-up that uses creativity in digital media networks for free, inclusive and sustainable societies.
