In the Netherlands, academic degree programs are externally assessed every six years. It was our turn on Friday 1 February. The international committee visited us to have a day long critical conversation about our International Bachelor for Communication and Media, IBCoM. We were confident about a positive outcome, as we were well prepared to talk about the details of our intensive and engaging degree program. Still, it was a relief at the end of the day to hear the committee explain their enthusiasm for our truly international program. In addition to the positive evaluation, we also received the Special Feature Internationalization. This is the cherry on top of the cake, first because it is rather unique for a Dutch academic program to get this feature, and also because it shows the external world, including prospective students, that our program is truly international in its contents, its teaching & research staff and our students who come from more that 70 different countries.
