The International Communication Association convened in Prague. There were about 3.500 of us at the conference. My department was well represented and my own PhD students Lei and Roel succeeded well in getting their research message across. Lei Yang shared results on the Chinese Muslim minority’s needs for proper health communication. We also had a formal meeting with Dr Yuping Mao (Los Angeles). Roel Lutkenhaus presented in the Hilton Ballroom his big data analysis of Dutch (anti-) organ donation tweets and later gave a poster. Ruud Jacobs, who received his PhD last November (2017) at the EUR, marked his transition to the University of Twente by using a diagonal in his opening slide: EUR left, UT right. What could that mean?
